But I don't have it.īut I am new to all of it and it is probably just as good as any other once you learn it. I like Milkshape best tho, it was easy to learn and had the right features and it imports and exports well. And I have it I find Wings3D to be limited and awkward-but it imports and exports obj to and from 3ds. I like 3d Max because it has a bunch of great features once you learn it. I unloaded Blender so fast it wasn't funny. Also, it is posible to import and export thru another program-I use Wings 3D for this. Also there is a prolem with the importer/exporter plugins but this is being worked on. 3D Max will take a mesh and turn it on it's side. In 3d Max, the import oriention is not 'what you see'. In Milkshape the import is strasight forward-what you see in the game is what you get in milkshape. But it has it's problems because it is complex. Note that Poser is really NOT a 3d editor at all, but someone here has been able to use Poser "magnets" to alter Sims2 body meshes somehow - search for the thread if you are interested and have Poser.ģD Max is ok. Here are the 3d editors that I personally know have been successfully used for Sims2 editing - this does not mean that others can not be used, just that I do not know for sure. Oh, I guess there are three really - although it is shareware, it is very low cost in terms of other 3d editors - it was $15 when I registered it some years ago, I think it now is $25. Second it is simple enough for someone like me (no training at 3d editing at all) to understand. Every available Sims2 tool and plug-in can be used with MilkShape. OK, enough of that - what I personally use myself is MilkShape for two reasons.įirst, at this point it is the most compatible with both importing meshes into the game and also does support animated mesh editing (body, hair, and certain objects) as well as static mesh editing. And the next one will be so much different in usage and features that what you learned in the other one will be not much use to you.

Just at the time you are getting familiar with it, the demo will expire. I will give this bit of advice - if you are definately NOT willing to pay the price of a piece of 3d software, don't even bother downloading the "free trial" version. The cost of shareware and commercial 3d packages varies greatly, from MilkShape (I think now it is $25) to several thousand $ for 3dMax and Maya. Because with Sims2 mesh editing the biggest problem seems to be getting the mesh in/out of the game successfully, and if you can't get that part working no 3d editor is going to be much use to you.Īlso a concern is are you willing to pay for it, and if so how much? If you are a complete newcomer to 3d editing, I would recommend that you look at tutorials on the type of editing that you wish to do as a first step. This will depend on not only what your interests are, but also on what your experience is at 3d editing.

If the path had got blank space(s) it does not work. The truth is - there IS no "best", there is only a "what is best for you" as Numenor said. Well actually the problem with my situation was the blank space.

I will try to update the plugin soon if you do not want to install YafaRay in a different folder. Your reward will be that you will be able to render with YafaRay. Without other people testing, it is hard to catch these things. Thanks for sticking with this so we can get these issues resolved. As a workaround you can install YafaRay in C:\YafaRay instead of under Program_Files. He discovered that there is a problem when using long file names. I change all the folder names replacing the blank space with a " _ " and it worked! That Program Files (with a blank space between) is causing the problem. > d:/PROGRA~1/MODELI~1/RENDER~1/yafaray/bin/YAFARA~1.EXE -pp C:\Program Files\wings3d_1.5.4\lib\wings-1.5.4\plugins -f png wpc_yafaray-5980-3KCXSN.xml d:/texĪs it was done to the executable path - converted to short name, you need to do the same for the plugin path.
